This is the largest cemetery for German soldiers outside German soil and opened in 1959. It contains nearly 20.000 crosses which means about 40.000 soldiers lie here. Underneath each cross lie 2 soldiers! When compared to the cemeteries of the allied forces these are not so well maintained...
